Raymond Harvey
Eldridge, 73, of Tremont, passed
peacefully into Eternity on
Saturday, May 7, 2011 following
an illness. Born and raised in
Harlan County, Harvey was a
loving husband, father and
grandfather who enjoyed the
outdoors, especially fishing and
gardening.
He was a retired
coal miner and had earlier worked
as a machinist for the F.H.
Lawson Company in Ohio. Harvey
was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a
member of the Masonic Lodge in
Ohio, and a member of the
Kentenia Full Gospel Church at
Wallins.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, Milton
Eldridge and Lana Redmond
Eldridge; a sister, Oralee
Saylor; two brothers, J.C.
Redmond and Hubert Saylor; and a
grandson, Jared Abraham.
Survivors include
his wife of over 49 years,
Colleen Eldridge; three children,
Karen Stephens and husband
Delbert, of Coldiron; Lisa
Abraham and husband Greg, of
Tremont; Raymond Harvey Eldridge,
Jr. and wife Edwina, of Hulen;
one sister, Vicky Saylor and
husband Delbert, of Coldiron;
four grandchildren, Devin
Griffith and husband James; Aaron
Stephens; Megan Abraham; Raymond
Harvey Eldridge, III; and one
great-granddaughter, Callie Rose
Griffith.
Visitation will be
after 5 pm Monday at the Kentenia
Full Gospel Church at Wallins.
Funeral services
will be held at 1 pm Tuesday at
the church with Pastor Ed Houston
and Rev. Carl Eldridge
officiating.
Burial will follow
at Resthaven Cemetery with family
members serving as pallbearers.
Military Rites will be presented
by the Harlan County Honor Guard.
